Onboard Responsibilities & Etiquette | Naturist Sailing Croatia
Respectful naturism only. Our trips are privacy-first and consent-based. No photos/videos of guests or crew without explicit permission. In marinas/ports, please cover up when appropriate and follow local rules.

Responsibilities
Our skipper and hostess service begins with the boat check-in procedure (typically on Saturday afternoon) and continues through to the boat check-out in the marina (usually on Friday afternoon). Your skipper will work with you to create a personalized itinerary, tailored to your preferences. However, please note that certain circumstances beyond their control, such as adverse weather conditions or safety concerns, may require adjustments to the planned route.
The skipper has the final authority to modify the itinerary as necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on board. For example, strong winds or other hazardous conditions may require an alternative marina, port, or berth. While we strive to accommodate group preferences, any collective requests for itinerary changes will ultimately be at the skipper’s discretion, with safety as the top priority.

Skipper
Skipper Responsibilities and Expertise
The skipper is responsible for safety, navigation and onboard operations. He works closely with you to tailor the route to your preferences, ensuring a personalized experience. However, safety is always his top priority, and he will make no compromises when it comes to the well-being of the crew and passengers.
Your Skipper as a Guide and Expert
Beyond his technical skills, the skipper is a valuable source of knowledge and guidance. He can provide practical advice, recommend must-visit destinations, suggest exciting activities, and answer any questions you may have. If you’re interested, he can even teach you the basics of sailing and boat handling, adding an educational element to your journey.
Local Knowledge and Safety
For safety reasons, the skipper has final responsibility and decision-making authority. The skipper has in-depth knowledge of local conditions, including weather patterns, sea currents, and safe anchorages. He continuously monitors weather forecasts and adjusts the itinerary as needed to ensure the safest and most enjoyable experience. His decisions are final and must be respected, as he bears the ultimate responsibility for the safety and comfort of everyone on board.
Why Trust Your Skipper?
With his expertise, local insights, and unwavering focus on safety, the skipper ensures your yacht charter is not only enjoyable but also secure. Whether navigating challenging conditions or sharing hidden gems along the coast, he is dedicated to making your trip unforgettable.
Guests
We handle all the details, so you can focus on enjoying your trip.
However, there are a few simple responsibilities we ask you to keep in mind:
Listen to the skipper—his instructions, especially during mooring, anchoring, and other maneuvers, are for your safety and comfort.
Treat everyone on board with respect and kindness, ensuring a pleasant atmosphere for all.
Follow the charter company’s guidelines for using onboard facilities, particularly toilets, showers, and the kitchen, to keep everything in great condition.
Privacy & consent: no photos/videos without explicit permission.
Naturist etiquette: use a towel on shared surfaces; cover up in marinas/ports when appropriate
Additional Notes (skipper and hostess related)
When chartering a yacht with a crew, ensure they have access to a private sleeping cabin
and a head/shower.
The cost of food for the crew is covered by the client’s budget. Typically, breakfast and
lunch are provided onboard, while dinners are taken outside. You may invite the crew to join you for dinner, or if you prefer more privacy, you can arrange an additional budget for separate meals (typically €30–40 per meal deducted from APA). Clear communication helps us tailor the experience
And remember the golden rule:
Don’t worry—be happy! Relax, unwind, and let us take care of the rest.
Hostess
Food Provisioning
For crewed yacht charters with a hostess, an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is typically required to cover food, beverages, and operating costs. Before your trip, you’ll complete a preference list to guide provisioning. The hostess and skipper, track expenses and provide receipts at the end of the charter. If the APA runs low, additional funds may be requested.
Meal Planning and Preparation
The hostess plans meals based on your preferences. Notify her in advance of any changes, as route adjustments or limited local supplies may affect meal preparation. Most provisioning is done before departure.
The hostess prepares half-board meals, including breakfast, light lunches (pasta, salads, etc.), snacks, and tea/coffee. While she ensures tasty, simple meals, she is not a private chef. For gourmet dining, consider hiring a chef.
Cleaning and Tidiness
The hostess maintains the yacht’s cleanliness, ensuring common areas like the saloon, galley, and cockpit are spotless.
Assisting the Skipper
The hostess supports the skipper with docking, mooring, and other tasks as needed.
Benefits of Hiring a Hostess
Personalized Service: From meal planning to itinerary management, she ensures a seamless experience.
Relaxation: Focus on enjoying your trip while she handles cleaning and daily details.

Attention to Detail: From table settings to transportation, she ensures everything is perfect.
Conclusion
A hostess elevates your yacht charter, handling everything from meals to itineraries for a stress-free, luxurious experience. Perfect for those seeking relaxation and personalized service, a hostess ensures an unforgettable trip.
Boating Etiquette Basics
Being at sea gives you a unique sense of freedom: the luxury of waking up in a different place every day, exploring hidden bays and coves, and seeing the coastline from a completely new perspective. Spending a holiday on a sailing yacht is a special experience — very different from accommodation on land.
Life onboard is a shared social environment and it comes with its own set of unwritten rules. Naturism onboard is non-sexual and privacy-first. Consent and respect are essential, and photos/videos are never taken without permission. Whether it’s your first time on a sailing yacht or you’re experienced, these simple guidelines help everyone feel comfortable and safe.
NATURISTM PRIVACY & CONSENT
Naturism on board is non-sexual. Our priority is a relaxed, respectful atmosphere where everyone feels safe and comfortable. Privacy and consent are essential: no photos/videos without explicit permission, and always respect personal space. In marinas, ports and during check-in, please cover up when appropriate and follow local rules.
BE PREPARED PATIENT AND POLITE
Start your holiday in the right way by understanding that patience and manners go a long way. Etiquette begins the moment you arrive at check-in. We advise our guests to be on time and prepared by having all the necessary documents ready to make the process as smooth as possible. Be aware that during peak season, check-in can be very busy at the counter and for marina technicians. Allow a couple of people to deal with check-in (together with the skipper), so others can get provisions (if there is no hostess) or relax with a drink. If you use a cart to get your gear to the boat, get it back as soon as possible so others can use it too.
Living aboard means that the boat cabin, toilet and kitchen are shared with other crew members. Therefore understanding and tolerance are expected in this boat adventure. From experience, we know that cabins are only used for sleeping. Most of the time, you will spend outdoors on the deck.
BAREFOOT RULE
You should always take your shoes off before boarding the boat or, if you must, wear soft sole boat shoes.
WATER, GALLEY and ELECTRICITY
Understand that water on the boat is precious so use it accordingly , especially the shower. Chances for refilling are often very poor and expensive. The galley and refrigerators are “boat size”, so keep that in mind. Preparing complicated dishes is very difficult, so keep them simple but tasty. Electricity comes from batteries, which are charged by the engine and solar panels (but not on all boats). Do not overdo it with the lighting and the refrigerator.
LUGGAGE
Cabins on a sailing boat are beautifully designed and equipped for you and your comfort, but unfortunately, not for storage. It is always a precious commodity. We discourage bringing hard-shell luggage aboard as it ends up taking up valuable space. Please bring soft luggage that can be easily folded up.
SKIPPER & HOSTESS
It is important to remember that the skipper and hostess are there for two main reasons: safety and comfort. The skipper knows the boat’s limits and your safety is always a top priority. Besides your safety, the skipper and hostess want you to feel at home and to make sure you have a pleasurable experience. However, you should treat the crew with respect and understanding. Also, treat the boat itself as your home during your time onboard, keeping things orderly as best you can.
POLLUTION OF THE SEA
Be careful not to harm marine life. Do not throw cigarette butts or garbage overboard. Whenever possible, use natural, organic, and/or eco-friendly detergents, shampoos, soaps, and sunscreens that are not harmful. Don’t take anything from the sea and don’t walk in the water – swim whenever possible.
